Horizon Zero Dawn PS4 Pro Enhancements Detailed

November 2, 2016

Michiel van der Leeuw, technical director at Guerilla Games, has taken to the Playstation Blog to announce how they will be making use of the additional power afforded by the PS4 Pro when Horizon Zero Dawn releases in February.

All demos of Horizon Zero Dawn at expos up until this point have been running on standard PS4 units, which boggles the mind considering how incredible the game looks. Owners of PS4 Pro consoles and 4K HDR TVs will be able to see a range of benefits such as rendering in 4K utilising the checkerboard techniques detailed by Mark Cerny, enhanced details in the environment, larger draw distances and more details in the machines and NPCs in the world. On top of this, you will get the added benefits of HDR and the fabulous colour ranges it brings.

Owners of 1080p TVs will benefit as well, the largest of which will be supersampling, resulting in much better image quality and anti-aliasing. Guerilla Games is also looking at increasing the quality of their shadow mapping and anisotropic filtering, meaning better quality shadows and textures.

If you have a 4K TV and want to get an idea of the quality you can expect from the PS4 Pro version of Horizon Zero Dawn, check out the trailer below while you wait for the game to release on March 1 2017.
