Hitman developer, IO Interactive, suffers staff layoffs

May 24, 2017

Developer IO Interactive has announced via Twitter that they have had to layoff staff.

Here is the company’s full statement:

Today at IOI, we had to make some changes to our studio, which will allow us to be better equipped for our future adventures.

We’re sad that great talent and good friends will be leaving the studio. We are doing everything possible to look after everyone affected.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

The layoffs have occurred mere weeks after Square Enix revealed they would be selling IO Interactive. The developer has been responsible for the Hitman and Kane & Lynch franchises, leaving the series’ future in much doubt.

It’s unconfirmed how many staff have been affected by the layoffs, but regardless this is very sad news for the games industry. Rocket Chainsaw wishes the very best for the studio and all affected staff during these troubled times.
