Rescued from the catacombs of Valve’s mod vault comes Half-Life 2 VR. It may not be Half-Life 3, but fans of the series that own an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive will soon be able to re-live one of the most memorable gameplay experiences of all time.
The mod, which was originally shown off in 2013, was put on the back-burners by Valve until a new mod team consisting of some of the members of the original mod team decided to pick it up, brush it off and finish the job. Half-Life 2 VR promises to be everything the original game was, and more.

As you can see from the trailer, the mod team is promising an enhanced graphics experience in Half-Life 2 VR, including:
- HDR lighting
- Updated effects, textures, models & maps
- A made for VR UI
- Realistic weapon interactions
- Multiple VR locomotion methods
Best of all, Half-Life 2 VR will be completely free as long as you already own Half-Life 2 on PC.
