Gwent closed beta delayed

August 11, 2016

Developer CD Projekt Red has announced that the beta for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game has been delayed until October 25.

Gwent was originally supposed to enter a closed beta on PC and Xbox One in September, but the developer has cited they would like some extra development time.

“Unfortunately, we feel we need some extra time with the game before we hand it off to you for testing,” the developer said in a statement. “We know we can make a first impression only once, and want to be sure everything is ready before we blast off. Delivering a good game is more important to us than keeping a deadline.”

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is an expanded version of the Gwent side game that was featured in The Witcher 3. This includes a story, card animations, more card varieties and a completely revamped presentation. There will also be cross-platform multiplayer, though it’s unclear if this will be between PC and consoles only or if the Xbox One and PS4 versions will also interact with each other.
