Godzilla Stomps Into Magic: The Gathering

Never did I think I would write the words ‘Godzilla is coming to Magic: The Gathering‘, but in what is easily one of the most exciting announcements ever for the franchise, Wizards of the Coast has confirmed that the one and only King of Monsters – as well as a cohort of other Toho monsters – will soon to be coming to my favorite TCG.

Godzilla will be making its debut in Magic: The Gathering‘s upcoming set, Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths, which has a large emphasis on larger than life monsters. The set is Magic: The Gathering‘s next premier card set, expanding the game’s ongoing multiverse by introducing a new world of massive monsters and humans that bond them.

In total, there will 16 Godzilla monsters that will grace the fronts of Magic: The Gathering cards in English (with a further three Japanese exclusive cards also releasing). Godzilla, King of the Monsters will only be obtainable by buying a draft booster pack display through a Wizards Play Network store, while the other cards will be obtainable through Ikoria: Lair of Behemonths Collector Boosters, which will contain two random monster from the remaining card set. Draft Boosters will not contain any Godzilla Series Monster cards.
