Gigabyte Announces Aero 15 Laptop

May 6, 2017

While you may mainly know Gigabyte for their graphics cards and motherboards, they have gradually been expanding into the realm of portable computing as well. Continuing this increased push into the portable market, they have announced the Aero 15, a brand new 15″ laptop aimed to capture marketshare from the high end laptop scene.

The Aero 15 aims to be a powerful laptop capable of both gaming and professional software tasks, while avoiding the bulky form factors seen from companies such as Alienware. To do this, they have shrunk the bezel around the screen on the Aero 15 to 5mm, making the laptop closer to the size of a 14″ laptop as opposed to 15″. They have also had the laptops screen X-Rite Pantone certified, which is sure to excite designers out there.

To combat the power draw from the i7-7700k, 16gb of 2400mHz DDR4 RAM, 512gb SSD and GTX 1060 the Aero 15 boasts, they have included a 94Wh battery which boasts up to 10 hours of life before needing a charge. The i7 and 1060 also mean that it should be capable of running just about anything you could want to play or use. This is all housed in a CNC aluminium body that is only 1.9 cm thick and weighs in at 2.1kg.

The Gigabyte Aero 15 will retail for $2899 when it releases later in May. Stay tuned to Rocket Chainsaw later this week for my full review.
