With less than three weeks to go until the release of the Xbox Series X|S, the news really is coming in thick and fast now. Among the 30 games that will be optimised for Series X|S at the launch of the consoles is Gears 5, the latest entry in the Gears of War series. While we enjoyed the game when we reviewed it last year, it felt a little too short. That complaint is now looking to be rectified, with The Coalition confirming in an interview with IGN that Gears 5 will receive brand new story DLC in December titled Hivebusters.

Not many other details were given about the Gears 5 Hivebusters story DLC, so we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information in the near future. However we did get some more tidbits of information about updates the game would receive as part of coming to Xbox Series X|S. There will be a New Game+ mode for those that have already completed the game, new skins, new difficulty modes, mutators, achievements and your Jack upgrades will carry over. Batista is also joining the campaign, after previously only being available as a skin in the multiplayer mode.

Gears 5 is available now for PC and Xbox One, and will be optimised for Xbox Series X|S with the launch of the consoles on November 10th, while the Hivebusters story DLC will be available in December.
