Gamescom 2020: Monster Harvest Announced

August 29, 2020

There’s no doubt at all that monster collecting and farming games have been pretty popular for a long time now. Pokemon is a massive franchise unlike any other, Temtem is taking the world by storm and Stardew Valley seems like it will never stop selling. The latter two in particular have proven just how well Indie games in the genres can do. Now, we’ve had a new monster collection and farming cross-over game announced during Gamescom 2020 at the Future Games Show, Monster Harvest.

Monster Harvest is akin to Ooblets, in that the monsters you collect are also the crops that you farm. You’ll grow them, mutate them and collect, before taking them into battle with action RPG gameplay. The game has a retro inspired aesthetic, looking quite similar in style to Stardew Valley, and has a focus on exploration. Unlike other farming games though, Monster Harvest is set on the fictional Planimal Planet. This means that there’s no adherence to reality, so get ready for three seasons and some wild weather. Weather and seasons affect what you can grow, with developer Maple Powered Games calling out the Dark Season as one to watch out for.

Monster Harvest is coming soon for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. For more information, check out the official Facebook page.
