Gamescom 2018: Valve Announces Windows Game Compatibility Tool For Linux

August 22, 2018

Since time immemorial, games compatibility has been one of the biggest reasons to go with Windows over any other OS. While there was always a smattering of titles that would support Linux, the vast majority of developers ignored the OS when releasing their games and therefore forcing Linux gamers to sort out their own workarounds. That is all set to change, with Valve announcing a new version of Steam Play for a modified version of Linux Wine called Proton which includes a compatibility tool to allow end users to play games that are only compatible with Windows on the Linux OS.
