April 17, 2021

Each year we know that an F1 game is in the works, yet every time we feel a sense of surprise when it finally gets announced, and today Electronic Arts and Codemasters has revealed the F1 2021 release date, with the game launching in the exact same window last last year’s F1 2020.

Don’t adjust your sets, you read that news right. Codemasters has been purchased by Electronic Arts, but they have assured us that Codies will still be able to go about their business as usual, creating some of the best racing games on the market. This year, F1 2021 will offer new tracks, new modes, and a groundbr(e)aking new story taking players on a journey from F2 to the glitz and glamour of Formula 1 when the game launches in July.

Braking Point is an exciting innovation that has been years in the making. We are proud to expand the game experience and allow players to live the highs and lows of life in Formula 1 both on and off the track,” said Lee Mather, Franchise Game Director at Codemasters. “Braking Point transforms the game and puts players centre stage in the greatest racing spectacle on the planet.

Also revealed were the additional cars in the F1 2021 season such as Alpine and AlphaTauri, and players can expect newly promoted drivers such as Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin to be tough competitors as you work your way up through the ranks of the story mode.

Career mode will also see some nice updates, such as allowing players to begin at any point of the 2021 season, with real-time drivers’ and constructors’ standings reflected in the game by using the new ‘Real-Season Start’ option.

We are creating more choice and new ways to play. Real-Season Start allows players to align their career to the F1 season,” said Paul Jeal, F1 Senior Franchise Director at Codemasters. “The addition of two-player Career brings new challenges to the iconic game mode. Players can now choose to play co-operatively and share in the success or compete and strive for personal glory.
