Earthbound Beginnings Finally Announced Western Release

It has only taken twenty-six years but the original Mother is finally being released outside of Japan.

Announced in a special video this morning at the Nintendo World Championships featuring series creator  Shigesato Itoi, explaining the decision to launch the original Mother for NES, titled Earthbound Beginnings, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of  Earthbound (Mother 2).

Up until now Earthbound is the only game in this trilogy of quirky RPG’s to have ever officially launched outside of Japan when it launched in America in 1995, but Australians & Europeans wouldn’t see an official release of Earthbound until July of 2013. Fans around the world have been clamoring for Mother & Mother 3 to be localised in some fashion for years and it seems like Nintendo has finally listened.

For those of you interested in purchasing this long awaited title, you will be able to purchase it on the Wii U’s eShop today.
