EA Play 2018: Independent title Sea of Solitude fights back against loneliness

June 10, 2018

Jo-Mei’s Sea of Solitude was the second independent title showcased at EA Play 2018. The game has been in development for several years, and was first picked up by the publisher as part of its EA Originals program in 2016.

At EA’s showcase event, Sea of Solitude received a new trailer and a few more details about the game’s central premise. In this world, humans that become too lonely turn into monsters, which has happened to the game’s protagonist. The game is about learning how this happened to her, and how she can be transformed back.

Written following the developer’s own bout of loneliness, Sea of Solitude (or S.O.S.) looks to be an emotional and psychological look at mental healthy, combining elements of exploration and puzzle solving.
