E3 Rumour: Kingdom Hearts: Remembrance Is Coming?

June 2, 2012

According to Dual Pixels, Square-Enix will be announcing an HD collection for the Kingdom Hearts series at this year’s E3. A recurring source of theirs (who was the first to reveal the new Castlevania: Lords of Shadow game), has informed them of the pending announcement. With HD collections being all the rage at the moment, it wouldn’t be too surprising if it turns out to be true, but what’s more interesting is what the supposed contents will be. According to their source, the collection will include HD re-releases of Kingdom Hearts 1, 2, Chain of Memories, 358/2 Days, and Birth By Sleep. The collection will apparently be called Kingdom Hearts: Remembrance, and will be released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U. The source also mentioned that Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days will be “re-rendered within the engine” to make it more in line with the other 4 Kingdom Hearts titles, which were released on Sony’s consoles. He added that the games will have new side quests added to them, which will help to tie up the story of each game. He singled out the Wii U version in particular, stating that it will make plot connections with the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3D.

While it all sounds a little too good to be true, it’s certainly possible that Square-Enix really might be going all-out when it comes to handling such a big franchise. Let us know what you think of this rumour in the comments below.
