Shin Megami Tensei V

The Shin Megami Tensei series is one of the longest running Japanese RPG series in the world. With countless spin-offs, the main series itself has actually had surprisingly few entries. After last month’s Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remasterwe’ve been hankering for some SMT action. We won’t be waiting long to satiate that hunger, with the confirmation that Shin Megami Tensei V is releasing in November.

Revealed with a trailer including our first look at gameplay, as well as a lengthy Nintendo Treehouse demo, there’s no doubt that Shin Megami Tensei V will hit its release date. The trailers included good looks at some of the demons in the game, the protagonist and environments. It showed us that we’ll be able to see enemies on the field for the first time, allowing us to avoid battles if wanted. We also got plenty of combat footage, showing off the command-based combat system we’ve come to know and love from the franchise.

We also got some story details, with the reveal that the story begins begins with your high schooler protagonist being suddenly sucked into an alternate dimension. There, they merge with a mysterious entity and must fight to save a dying world.

Shin Megami Tensei V releases exclusively for Nintendo Switch on November 12. For more information, check the official website.
