E3 2019: Yooka-Laylee sequel announced

June 8, 2019

Playtonic Games has announced that there will be a follow up to 2017’s Yooka-Laylee. Dubbed Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, the game is set to release this year on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Capital B is back as the game’s main baddie, this time creating a Hivemind device that is used to enslave the toughest bees in the Royal Stingdom. Together, the bees form the Royal Beettalion Guard and our favourite lizard and bat duo set out to defeat them.

In contrast to the original’s 3D sandbox environments Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair will feature 2D platforming levels, though there will be a 3D overworld full of puzzles, secrets and some familiar faces. The game’s soundtrack is also being composed by David Wise and Grant Kirkhope.

We have embedded the reveal trailer below. For more information on the original Yooka-Laylee check out the Rocket Chainsaw review by clicking here.
