E3 2017: Ubisoft Announce New Space IP – Starlink: Battle for Atlas

June 13, 2017

Rumours said that Ubisoft might have a brand new IP set in space yet to be announced, with teasers appearing in Watch Dogs 2, and they have confirmed that rumour in resounding fashion by revealing Starlink: Battle for Atlas an open world space sim toys to life game. How’s that for a mouthful of genre?

Starlink: Battle for Atlas has you flying throughout the universe, exploring hundreds of planets and fighting against the shadowy Forgotten Legends, an evil robotic force who have taken over the galaxy. The game has a focus on space combat against other ships, but you’ll also fly down to planet surfaces and should aliens and robots on the surface as well. Your ship is fully customisable and can be modified on the fly, and is actually a fully modular toys to life figurine that you mount on your controller. You’ll be able to quickly add more armour, swap weapons and other parts in the heat of combat to adapt to your situation. There will also be digital versions of the parts available for those who prefer to not have figurines cluttering their space.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas will release for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2018.
