E3 2017: State of Decay 2 shown off at Xbox Press Conference with 4K gameplay trailer

June 12, 2017

Today at Microsoft’s E3 2017 Xbox press conference, Microsoft Studios and Undead Labs once again showed off State of Decay 2. The title was originally announced in the E3 2016 Xbox press conference with a trailer stating ‘coming 2017’, however the launch window has now been changed to Spring 2018.

It’s been four years since the original State of Decay launched, and things have noticeably changed. State of Decay 2 now runs at 4K HDR, and is an Xbox One X enhanced title, as well as being part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program, meaning players can continue their game on either Windows PC or Xbox One.

The just shy of five minute State of Decay 2 E3 2017 4K trailer shows off a decent amount of gameplay, as well as what to expect as you team up with friends (and randoms) online to survive in the zombie-overrun world. Check it out below:

18 months after the zombie apocalypse, the military abandons a refugee camp in small-town America. Those left behind must band together to survive the fall of civilization and the rise of the undead. In State of Decay 2, it’s up to you to gather survivors, build a community, and redefine what it means to survive.

How will you survive?

State of Decay 2 is currently scheduled to launch on Xbox One and Windows PC in Spring 2018 in the Americas, meaning it’s hopefully now a little less than a year away. We hope to go hands-on with State of Decay 2 at the E3 2017 show floor, so check back at Rocket Chainsaw for all the latest information over the coming days.
