E3 2017: Madden 18 ‘Longshot’ Mode Revealed

June 11, 2017

American Football fans rejoice! Among the news from today’s Live @ EA Play event came the announcement of a cinematic, single-player experience called Longshot, coming as part of Madden NFL 18.

The annual return of EA’s perennial NFL franchise will bring fans the story of Devon Wade, a young quarterback who gets his big break in the NFL. In an expansion of scope from FIFA 17‘s The Journey, the player will guide Wade’s decisions and on-field performance to one of several endings, and will be joined by Oscar-winning House of Cards actor Mahershala Ali, who will play the role of a pivotal character in Wade’s budding career.

Fans are also excited for the appearance of NCAA teams Texas and Oregon, marking the associations first inclusion in a video game since the effective cancellation of EA’s NCAA Football series in 2014.

The Frostbite engine is looking fantastic, as usual, and talk is that Madden NFL 18‘s dev-team are paying particular attention to the as yet untouchable Scorpio hardware. We may find out more during Monday’s Scorpio hands-on event.
