E3 2017: Assassin’s Creed: Origins map size similar to the sea in Black Flag, but mostly land

June 13, 2017

Fresh out of the E3 2017 Ubisoft press conference, we watched 30 solid minutes of Assassin’s Creed: Origins, and what an amazing display it way. Egypt looks absolutely stunning, full of life, and a lot to explore. The map was briefly shown in the gameplay demonstration, which you can see if you follow this link (video starts at 2h:28m for your convenience), and gives a bit of an idea as to just how big Assassin’s Creed: Origins is going to be.

Video games magazine Gameinformer, which had an unfortunate leak of their July cover article just days before the reveal at E3 2017, spoke with creative director Jean Guesdon, who confirmed their direction for the map size. “”It’s a huge world. Basically, we took the size of Black Flag’s Caribbean, but on the ground, so a lot of locations to travel that will allow us to show how rich ancient Egypt was,” Guesdon told Gameinformer.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins is scheduled to launch on October 27, 2017 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC platforms.
