E3 2016: Yooka-Laylee trailer released, delayed to 2017

June 7, 2016

Playtonic and publisher Team17 have released a brand new trailer for Yooka-Laylee.

Yooka-Laylee is a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie and is being developed by several ex-Rare staff. The game received Crowdfunding via Kickstarter, and has been in development since 2015.

The trailer shows development is coming along nicely, with several of duo’s abilities being demonstrated along with game environments, challenges, secondary characters and music. For the first time the duo’s voices can also be heard, which are spoken in gibberish akin to Banjo-Kazooie.

Sadly, Playtonic has announced the game’s release has been pushed back to Q1 2017. Playtonic has cited they want to deliver a better game for their backers and will be using the extra time to polish the final build.

Yooka-Laylee is slated for release on Xbox One, PS4, PC, Wii U, OS X and Linux.
