E3 2016: Xbox Live updates inbound

June 15, 2016

During their E3 2016 conference, Microsoft revealed some new features were on the way for Xbox Live.

There will be a new background music feature which will allow you to play your own music library anywhere on the Xbox menus and, presumably, in some games. A new “Language Region Independence” option will also be introduced, allowing players to pick their system’s language settings regardless of where they live.

Two of the more interesting features are Clubs and Arena. Clubs will allow groups to be created and bring together like-minded players who enjoy specific genres and games. There will also be a “looking for group” function that lets players find multiplayer matches more easily. It acts as an advertisement of sorts for people to join your game, no doubt something achievement boosters will be taking full advantage of!

Arena acts as a tournament platform for specific games. You can compete against friends and online randoms. Smite will be one of the first games to utilise the feature, with FIFA and other EA Sports titles joining the roster in 2017.

It was not confirmed when the features will be rolling out.
