At Jump Festa 2017 in Japan, Koei Temco (via Siliconera) has announced Dynasty Warriors 9 is in development.

While it’s unconfirmed what platforms the game will be released on and if it will come to the West, Koei Temco has revealed the title will be a “rebirth” for the franchise. Dynasty Warriors 9 will apparently be open world, with the aim being to make China into one giant map. Players will be able to explore small towns and enter/exit them as they see fit. The map will also feature vast elevation differences.

All 83 playable characters that appeared in Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires will return, as well as a new character named Zhou Cang. A lone teaser was released which we have embedded below.
