DOOM Eternal And Elder Scrolls Online Getting Free Next-Gen Upgrades

August 7, 2020

As we get closer and closer to the next generation of consoles, we’re continuing to wonder how many of our current games will make the jump to them. We’re not talking about simply running via backwards compatibility, but specifically what games will get patches and updates to truly take advantage of the more powerful hardware. We’ve had a few confirmations on games so far like Grant Theft Auto V and Destiny 2, but now Bethesda are joining the fight with both DOOM Eternal and Elder Scrolls Online receiving next-gen ports.

We don’t have too many specific details on the ports yet, but Bethesda have stated that more details should be coming soon, so maybe we’ll hear something at QuakeCon this weekend on Twitch or at another show closer to Gamescom? Maybe Bethesda will even hold a press conference in the near future to show off some of their upcoming games. Either way, what has been confirmed is that the games will be updated to take advantage of the increased power of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Alongside this, it was also confirmed that these will be free upgrades for people that own current generation versions of these games, with Besthesda advising they’re committed to offering free upgrades for current generation console owners of existing Bethesda games that make their way to next-gen.

Keep your eyes focused on Rocket Chainsaw for more information on the DOOM Eternal and Elder Scrolls Online next-gen ports as it becomes available.
