Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny Coming Exclusively To Switch

September 18, 2020

If you’re a fan of tactical RPGs, Nippon Sochi Software or just plain fun games, you’ve probably heard of the Disgaea series. An over the top, often hilarious and sometimes satirical take on many gaming tropes, the Disgaea series has been NIS’s bread and butter for years. Fans have now been waiting for years for a brand new game, as the series  has gone through multiple remasters and rereleases of its back catalogue on new platforms. Now, finally, we have the announcement of Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny and it’s a Switch exclusive (in the West).

With the announcement finally here, it looks like one of the reasons Disgaea 6 has taken a while is its totally new rendering. Unlike the sprite based games of the past, the game is using 3D models for all of its characters now, signalling a massive shift from the first five entries. It’s not all doom and gloom though, because the models all still look fantastic and perfectly match the 2D style of the past. Beyond the graphics, everything shown in the announcement trailer looks exactly like what you would expect from a Disgaea game. There’s jokes, plenty of numbers that are much too high and Prinny’s getting exploded.
Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny releases exclusively for Nintendo Switch in 2021. For more information, check out the official website.
