After years of waiting and hoping that a new Darksiders game would rise from the ashes of THQ’s demise, THQ Nordic have officially revealed via IGN First that Darksiders 3 is in development and will release next year.

The game will follow Fury, instead of one of the Four Horsemen, as she goes on a quest to destroy physical embodiments of the seven deadly sins. The game will take place in large open environments, with a focus on explorations, puzzles and combat using Fury’s whip. It is being developed by Gunfire Games, which is staffed with multiple people who previously worked on Darksiders at Vigil Games.

Darksiders 3 is in development for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and will release in 2018.
