Darksiders 2 officially announced for Xbox One and PS4

June 12, 2015

Publisher Nordic Games has officially announced via their website that Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition will be coming to the Xbox One and PS4 this Christmas season.

The game is a remastered version of the original Darksiders 2 which was released in 2012 on Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii U. It will include all previously released DLC and feature higher visual quality, 1080p native resolution, improved lighting and shadow effects and fine-tuned game balancing and loot distribution. It will also include all previous DLC. Development duties have been handled by Gunfire Games, which consists of several former Vigil Games employees. Vigil Games was the original developer of the Darksiders franchise but was closed after their parent company THQ, filed for bankruptcy and sold all their assets.

Nordic’s Business & Product Development Director Reinhard Pollice, also hinted that a new entry in the Darksiders franchise is also being worked on:

“We took over the franchise roughly two years ago and thought about the next chapter for Darksiders ever since then. Naturally (and extremely excitedly!), there will be a large-scale project based on Darksiders, but for now it is very important for us to take care of the existing games and make those available to a broader audience.”
