Cuphead Sells One Million Copies In Two Weeks

October 17, 2017

There’s no doubt that Independent development can be a massive risk. With large investments of time and money, with no guarantees of even middling success, most independent developers put themselves into a position where failure threatens them from all corners.

StudioMDHR, the developers of Cuphead, have spoken of the risk they took to enter development full-time, revealing in an interview with GamesRadar that they quit their jobs and remortgaged their houses to fund development of the game. What resulted from that risk was a game that is utterly fantastic, with Joseph giving the game 4.5/5 in his review and highly recommending it.

The other success that StudioMDHR has found is sales that other independent developers can only dream of, selling over 1 million copies of the game in only 2 weeks. The game is a runaway success, both critically and commercially, and we commend them on their success.
