“Hugely Ambitious” Crackdown 3 Delayed to 2018

August 17, 2017

Crackdown 3 delayed to 2018″ was not the headline Rocket Chainsaw was expecting to read today coming out of Microsoft, however it was not really all that surprising.

What was meant to be one of Microsoft’s token holiday games and a solid launch title for the Xbox One X has just been confirmed to be pushed back to the second quarter of next year.

Originally announced in 2014, Crackdown 3 continues its worrisome developmental path with inconsistencies and broken promises aplenty. Its latest showing at E3 2017 was disastrous and one can only suspect that the developers and publishers alike are in crisis with the Xbox One X just three months away.

In an interview with game review website Polygon, Microsoft Studios Publishing general manager Shannon Loftis said “we want to make sure to deliver the right game, with the right quality, and at the right time. … Crackdown 3 is a hugely ambitious game and we want to ensure we deliver the right experiences all the way through every part of the game,” and stated that the team is “going to take the extra development time to ensure that.”

Rocket Chainsaw took an in-depth look at Crackdown 3 after the E3 2017 presentation which you can read here. We said it still looks and feels like the original Crackdown but on the new platform which if done correctly should be pretty fun.

Crackdown 3 will launch on Xbox One and Windows PC platforms. Head to the official website for more information.
