This week, Bandai Namco announced some significant new details to their upcoming third-person RPG, Code Vein, including new characters, bosses and a new location.
First up, are the two new characters – Yakumo and Emily Su. Yakumo is a new buddy character who is able to summon his Hounds to perform a’ Drain Attack’ Meanwhile, Emily Su formed a deep bond with Yakumo, as the two trapped and experimented on by the game’s enemy, Mido.. After the ‘Great Collapse’, Yakumo set out to find her after they were separated.
A new location, the City of Falling Flame was also unveiled, left in ruins and haunted by eternal fire turning everything to ash, where the ‘Thorns of Judgment’ wind their way through the city. Players will also have to contend with an enemy called ‘Blazing Radical’, one of ‘The Lost’, who is reminiscent of a knight.
A major boss, Successor of the Claw, was also revealed. This fearsome creature covers its face with a mask while wielding a blazing sword. It’s up to the player to be on guard to avoid its sweeping attacks. A word of caution, he can still burn players if they get too close to his claws and two tails.
Code Vein sees players set into the role of a Revenant, immortal soldiers that were created to counter the threat to mankind that appeared after the Great Collapse. Players embark on tasks spread through the world with a companion picked from the various residents of Vein to uncover their memories, lost after their revival after humanity’s near-extinction during the Great Collapse.
Code Vein will be available for PS4, Xbox One and PC sometime in 2018, as a more specific release date has not yet been announced.
