Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Officially Revealed

August 27, 2020

2020 has been a hell of a ride so far, but some normalcy is finally being restored in the gaming world with the reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Officially announced last week with a live-action trailer, Activision have now lifted the lid on the game with a brand new reveal trailer, filled with a mix of cinematics and gameplay.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the first direct sequel to the original Call of Duty: Black Ops, and takes place in the early 1980s, putting players into the depths of the Cold War and the tenuous geopolitical climate that the era entailed. The trailer focuses in on the story and campaign you can expect when the game releases, with plenty of bombastic moments and some fantastic looking visuals. On top of the visuals shown in the trailer, it has separately been confirmed by Venturebeat that the game will run at 4K 120fps on next-generation platforms, while cross-platform and cross-generation play are both in as well.

On top of this news, Activision also confirmed that the game will become the first of their titles to include a new price increase on next-generation platforms, which we wrote about earlier today. They also won’t be supporting free upgrades to next-generation versions of the game, with you needing to buy a more expensive cross-generation edition or the ultimate edition of the game if you want access to both current and next-generation versions.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War releases on November 13th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with versions coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in late 2020. For more information, check out the official website.
