Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War To Be Revealed Next Week

August 20, 2020

It wouldn’t be a full year without the release of a Call of Duty game. The series has been on an annual release cycle for what feels like forever and hasn’t skipped a beat in that time. Normally, we’d have officially known by now what this year’s Call of Duty game would be and would have seen gameplay footage at or around E3. This year, with all of its trials and tribulations has been a little different, with the reveal held back until now. Now, we know that the next Call of Duty game will be Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, with a full reveal coming next week.

Announced via a live-action teaser trailer on Youtube titled Know Your History, we know that the game will be set during the Cold War. The Cold War is know mostly for the continued rising political tensions between the USSR, USA and their respective allies, as an ever escalated arms race continued between the nations. There was little actual combat or fighting, instead there was a bigger focus on black ops and subterfuge (a perfect setting for a Black Ops game).

Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War will be fully revealed on August 26th, so stay tuned to Rocket Chainsaw as more information becomes available.

Rocket Chainsaw reviewed 2019’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare reboot, giving it 4 stars and saying, “while the campaign never goes for as long as we want it to, the online modes are everything hardcore Call of Duty fans could want and the Modern Warfare timeline is a welcome return to the franchise.” It will be interesting to see how they handle the Cold War, and whether fans will appreciate a new era for the long-running franchise.
