Brisbane band DZ Deathrays announce their own video game

October 21, 2021

Brisbane-based band DZ Deathrays, who’ve been around for yonks but from whom I remember their cracking music video starring a Wiggle, have announced their own video game, developed by the band’s drummer, Simon Ridley during lockdown. Previously, the band has had some involvement with games, with their music appearing in NHL 22 and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater.

The game, named Dive Bar Superstars is described as ” a retro-pixel action game where players will rock their way from house parties to the main stage”, where players can unlock songs from the band’s catalogue as rewards for progressing through the game.

Dive Bar Superstars will be released on the Apple Store and Google Play store on 29 October, as well as Steam for PC on November 19. A launch party will be held on Twitch to celebrate the release, with the band and Jamie Timony from These New South Wales/Mossy, as well as several ANZ creators. You can check out more information about the game, and the band’s tour dates in 2022 on their official website.
