Borderlands 3 Gets More Content And PS5 & Xbox Series X Version

Gearbox is no stranger to the PAX stage, having announced plenty of new content for Borderlands 2 in the past and even revealing Borderlands 3 there. A year on from the release of Borderlands 3 and a complete season pass later, and Gearbox is here to tell you all about what’s next. Their panel at PAX Online was chock full of announcements, including new content, new updates and PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game.

On the next gen front, Borderlands 3 is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X as a free upgrade for owners of the game on PS4 and Xbox One. This new and upgraded version of the game will run at 4K and 60fps, making this the best performing console version yet. Plus, as an added bonus, these versions of the game will also include four player split-screen co-op. Alongside this, the game will also support vertical split-screen for the first time, which is also coming to the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game via a free patch. We also got a tease that cross-play may be coming to the game next year as well.

As well as these new versions of Borderlands 3, Gearbox also announced some new add-on content coming to the game later this year. This new paid add-on is a little different to the story content we got via the Season Pass, instead adding a brand new game mode and an additional skill tree for each Vault Hunter.

The showcase showed off one of these new skill trees: FL4K’s Trapper skill tree. The Trapper skill tree emphasises shields and survivability, making FL4K and their pets more survivable than ever, and introduces the Gravity Snare action skill, a throwable trap that flings enemies into the air before smashing them back down to earth. We also got a look at FL4K’s latest pet option: their very own Hyperion Loaderbot. This isn’t a standard Loaderbot though, with a variety of massive weapons that can wipe out enemies.

Borderlands 3 is available now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One and will come to PS5 and Xbox Series X in the future. For more information, check out the official website.
