Kenny Omega announces Yuke’s new AEW game for current and next-gen consoles

November 11, 2020

In a livestream that was a straightsend-up of Steve Jobs’ famous Apple press conferences, Kenny Omega from AEW Wrestling, dressed in black turtleneck and jeans, announced AEW Games’ new project – an as-yet unnamed new AEW wrestling game developed by Yuke’s, for both current-gen and next-gen consoles.

Wrestling fans will remember Yuke’s famously as the developers of the WWE 2K series, who split with the series after reports of frustration with the direction of the franchise, leading to the poorly received WWE 2K20 by Visual Concepts.

Kenny mentioned games like No Mercy and Virtual Pro Wrestling as the types of games they’re looking for inspiration with the new AEW game. And, to top it all off they’ve even recruited No Mercy‘s ‘Geta-San’ aka Hideyuki Iwashita as part of the development team.

Aubrey Edwards also took the stage to announce a new mobile game, AEW Elite General Manager, while Cody Rhodes announced a new Casino mobile game ‘Double or Nothing‘.
