4K Forza Horizon 3 is Here, Australia

January 16, 2018

We’ve been waiting. We’ve been waiting since the Xbox One X launched on November 7 last year. We’ve been waiting since the Xbox One X was called Project Scorpio in its original unveiling when we went to E3 2017. Now it’s here. 4K Australia. 4K Forza Horizon 3.

Microsoft today finally released its much anticipated Xbox One X patch for Forza Horizon 3, coming in at a modest ~700MB. Developers Playground Games have not only been busy working on running the game in the photo-realistic resolution, they have also been improving the visuals in what they say should make the game look and play similar to a high-end PC.

The new patch improves “car reflections and shadow resolutions, as well as improved texture detail for road and terrain surfaces, and more“. Load times have also received an improvement, meaning you can jump in to 4K Forza Horizon 3 faster than ever before. Click here to see the official blog post on the new patch.

4K Forza Horizon 3

Forza Horizon 3 launched on 27 September, 2016 and was celebrated as continuing the legacy of what is becoming a stellar open-world racing series. Australians embraced travelling from Surfers Paradise to Byron Bay, to the Yarra Valley and then round the back to the outback in what gave a great representation of the unique and harsh conditions we have in our great nation.

Rocket Chainsaw reviewed Forza Horizon 3 at launch, giving it 4.5 stars and saying “Australia is absolutely stunning to drive through and cars control better than ever. There is more variety in the events you complete and the level of customisation given to you is immense, and the fact that you can do all of this in co-op with friends is awesome.” Now with 4K Forza Horizon 3, there’s no reason not to return to the game and give it another breath of life. Both large expansion packs have also received the 4K update, meaning you can head up to Blizzard Mountain or to the wacky islands of Hot Wheels in what will surely be a memorable experience.

As we look ahead Forza Horizon 4 which is rumoured to be set in Japan, Rocket Chainsaw expects upgrading to the Xbox One X will be somewhat irrisistable in 2018.

The 4K Forza Horizon 3 update should begin automatically if you have the game installed on your Xbox One X.
