16-Bit Aladdin and The Lion King games getting HD remasters

August 28, 2019

It has been revealed during a Gamestop Managers Conference that the 16-Bit Aladdin and The Lion King games on the Super Nintendo and Sega Mega Drive will be receiving HD remasters. Presumably this information wasn’t supposed to be released publicly yet, but in the age of the internet and everyone having smartphones in their pockets, it has become difficult to keep secrets.

Based on information uncovered by YouTube Channel GameXplain, the games will be released on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One in Fall (or Spring for Australia) this year. It’s expected the physical release will include both Aladdin and The Lion King, though it’s unclear if the inevitable digital release will be the same.

Interestingly the games feature the branding Disney Classic Games, so hopefully this means we’ll get more remasters of Disney games from the 90’s.
