Mario Comes to Minecraft in Minecraft: Wii U Edition

May 10, 2016

After its long awaited launch in December of last year, Minecraft finally made the jump to the Wii U. Many fans were surprised that on its release there weren’t any special character skins or content packs featuring iconic Nintendo characters (in a similar vein to what is seen on the Xbox and Playstation versions of the title), which seemed like a no-brainer. All has been forgiven today, as Nintendo, Mojang and Microsoft have announced the “Super Mario Mash-Up Pack“.

The pack adds 40 character skins of iconic Mario characters, including Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and of course everyone’s favourite, Waluigi. The game’s world, items and NPC’s have also been reworked to look like they were ripped straight out of the Mushroom Kingdom and the soundtrack will feature 15 pieces of music from Super Mario 64.

Players can download the pack from May 18th at no additional cost if they have already purchased Minecraft: Wii U Edition. It is also worth noting that a physical version of Minecraft: Wii U Edition is planned to launch ‘soon’ which will also be compatible with the pack.
