Nintendo Australia announced today that they have partnered with Nickelodeon for a special SpongeBob SquarePants event in Splatoon on Sunday 24 April.

During the game’s regular ‘Splatfests’, where players vote on certain topics and then team up with like-minded individuals, they can join either Team SpongeBob or Team Patrick and fight for under-the-sea supremacy, with SpongeBob themed ink splatters. After voting opens on Saturday 16 April, players can show their allegiance by wearing a special Tee of either SpongeBob or Patrick until the end of the event.

Outside of these Turf Wars, the city of Inkopolis is home to all manner of cool crustaceans, funky fish and other oceanic individuals, making Splatoon and SpongeBob SquarePants a match made in H₂O heaven.

Players will find this a great opportunity to use all-new ‘Sheldon’s Picks’ weapon combinations, offering fresh ways to tackle the turf wars.
