Yakuza 1&2 HD collection announced

July 20, 2012

If you’ve been charting the gradual increase in HD collections appearing on your shelf, it shouldn’t surprise you that the first two games in Sega’s Yakuza series would one day make it over to the current generation of consoles. The company made a formal announcement regarding just that today, as well as opening up a website showing off the graphical upgrades between the old and new versions of the games. They also showed off a new trailer, which you can view below.

While Yakuza 3 and 4 have given players the options to watch a brief summary of Kazuma Kiryu’s exploits during the first two games, there’s nothing quite like playing it for yourself. Yakuza has Kiryu trying to find his friend and the ten billion yen stolen from his former clan, while Yakuza 2 sees a gang war erupt.

The Yakuza HD Collection is slated to be released this November in Japan for PlayStation 3, with the release of Yakuza 5 planned for December.
