Xbox 360 games are getting Xbox One branding

November 18, 2016

Eagle eyed Reddit user, divangreedy8, has spotted new packaging for the retail versions of selected Xbox 360 games.

The new packaging is being applied to Xbox One backwards compatible titles, with the packing showing the Xbox 360 and Xbox One logos and also a label highlighting the game will work on both systems. divangreedy8 took photos of Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition and Doom 3: BFG Edition. Both titles are notably published by Bethesda, so it’s unclear if the new packaging will appear on backwards compatible titles from other publishers.

The backwards compatibility program is one of the Xbox One’s best features, giving it a distinct marketing advantage over the PlayStation 4. It’s easy to see why Microsoft are highlighting this to potential consumers.

Microsoft have not released an official statement regarding the new packaging and have not confirmed if it will be rolled out worldwide.
