The World Ends With You Themed Teaser Site Appears

August 20, 2012

What could it all mean? Square-Enix have just launched a teaser site which features a countdown that will be rather familiar to those who played The World Ends With You, an action RPG that they released for the Nintendo DS back in 2008. The countdown is set for a seven day period, the same amount of time that is given to the characters in the game, and uses a similar font. The page features a silhouetted picture of what appears to be the location ‘Scramble Crossing’ from the game, which also appeared on the boxart. The website mentions Tetsuya Nomura and Gen Kobayashi as character designers, the same role that they took on in the development of The World Ends With You.

Some clever people also found a remixed version of the song ‘Calling’ (which featured in the game) in the website’s data. The coundown will end at midnight on the 27th of August, but it’s hard to say what will be revealed. Tetsuya Nomura has previously hinted that “something” will be happening in relation to the game. The prominent appearance of the game’s characters in the latest Kingdom Hearts game certainly caught people’s attention, and furthered rumours that an announcement was imminent. Some are expecting a sequel, others a 3DS port. Whatever the case is, something interesting is coming.
