What are you playing this weekend?
Tim Norman: It’s all about the Steam games for me this weekend. I’m looking forward to The Stanley Parable, which looks like the most interesting first-person game since Antichamber. A free demo is up on Steam now so you can get an idea of what all the fuss is about. There’s also Audiosurf 2, which has had some mixed reviews due to its rather odd wakeboarding mode. get through that, though, and the game offers hours of solid music-based fun. And then there’s good old Team Fortress 2, which is ramping up for Halloween with new crates and items.
Adam Ghiggino: This weekend, I’ll be tackling David Cage’s Beyond: Two Souls. I hold out the smallest hope that the game will not end with super-powered AI monsters and ghost insects from another dimension, but then Willem Dafoe IS in the game. However, if the stars align and the moon enters the seventh house, I may check out Sonic Galaxy, I mean, Sonic Lost World.
Jarrod Mawson: Like Tim I too will be digging into The Stanley Parable this weekend. Much like Dear Esther, I was entranced by the original mod, enough to put down cash money for the full release. Ya’ll should try the free demo, because it contains totally new content that won’t appear in the full release. You’ll understand why if you try it. Breaking away from PC to consoles, I’ll be playing more of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, enjoying this solid high definition re-release, nostalgic from the parts Nintendo got oh-so-right, and reminded of the parts that didn’t quite get there. Look for a review!
Bev Chen: This weekend will probably see me glued to Sleeping Dogs, which I finally picked up last week (along with some Cantonese swear words). Beating up gangsters, performing poorly at karaoke and crashing into buildings at high speed aside, I’ll make time for Fire Emblem Awakening, which I am slightly afraid of tackling given how much I suck at strategy games. I’ll also be powering through some horror games in the lead up to my annual free horror games list for Halloween. Keep an eye out for it!
