Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Alpha trailer and details revealed

May 6, 2012

Ubisoft sure are pulling out all the stops with the latest game in the acclaimed Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon series, Future Soldier. A press release reveals that they’ve joined forces with some top talent to produce Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Alpha, a 25-minute prequel to the events of Future Soldier.

Apparently Alpha is very closely linked to the video game, taking place immediately before  “a vicious attack against a major European city” and follows the Ghosts as they make their way through enemy territory to eliminate an infamous war criminal. The location where the movie takes place is also flagged as one of the numerous multiplayer maps that will be available with the game. Last but not least (for fans of DLC anyway), a secret code is hidden somewhere in the movie, which unlocks an exclusive playable weapon.

As for the “top talent” I mentioned, I wasn’t kidding. The team behind Alpha includes Academy Award winning directors Hervé de Crécy and François Alaux, Children of Men screenwriter Tim Sexton, District 9 cinematographer Trent Opaloch, costume designer Sammy Sheldon (V for Vendetta, Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, Black Hawk Down), and military weapons specialist Harry Humphries (Thor, Iron-Man, Transformers).

Alpha will premiere on May the 13th on website Uplay.com, but will also be part of the Future Soldier collector’s edition, with some bonus behind-the-scenes content.
