Telstra to bring cloud gaming to Australia

March 21, 2012

In a surprise move few could see coming, Telstra has announced they will be providing Australia with cloud gaming. According to Smarthouse, the service should be available for use by the end of the year, and will likely rival similar packages such as OnLive and Gaikai which have yet to establish themselves outside of the US and European markets. Little is known about what is to come with this service, however a partnership with JB Hi-Fi looks to be taking it into our homes via Telstra’s digital receiver T-Box. With Telstra officials holding meetings with EA and other major publishers worldwide, this looks to be an exciting addition to the sadly declining industry of video game distribution. RC will keep you updated with more as and when it comes.
