So anyway, Matt Smith is leaving Doctor Who. 🙁

  • Andrew Reisse, co-founder and lead engineer of Oculus VR, was tragically killed today after being hit by a speeding car. Reisse started out working on middleware platform Scaleform, before working for Gaikai, and then for Oculus VR, helping to develop the Oculus rift headset. According to a statement released by the company, “Andrew’s contributions span far and wide in the video game industry. His code is embedded in thousands of games played by millions of people around the world. […] Andrew will always be in our thoughts and will never be forgotten. We love you Reisse.”
  • A film crew is planning to excavate the supposed site where Atari dumped millions of unsold E.T. cartridges. Considered one of the catalysts of the Great Video Game Crash of 1983, urban legend has it that unsold cartridges were dumped in a landfill near Alamogordo, New Mexico. The film crew has received permission from the local council to investigate the site and once and for all determine the truth behind the legend.
  • 2K have released a trailer for the next Civilisation V expansion, Brave New World. Here it is:

  • Since its release last week, Metro: Last Light has outsold its predecessor Metro 2033. We don’t just mean for the first week, either. No, Last Light has already surpassed its predecessor’s lifetime sales. We really liked the game here at Rocket Chainsaw Towers, and its great to see it get all the success it deserves.
