Sunday Gaming News – 16/6/2013

June 16, 2013

Well, E3 is over and done with, and we’re going to start returning to normality this week. Let’s kick things off with some news!

  • Sony have confirmed that, while you will have to pay for multiplayer on PS4, Free-to-play games Planetside 2 and DC Universe Online will not be part of this requirement, meaning you’ll be able to play them regardless of whether or not you have a Playstation Plus subscription.
  • Nintendo have put together a video highlighting all the cool things they did at E3. While their showing was a lot more subdued than the Sony vs. Microsoft curb-stomp battle that characterised this year’s show, they still hit all the right notes and showed that they’re still Nintendo, and they’re still around. • Speaking of Nintendo, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has hinted that there may be DLC for future titles in the series. In an interview with Nintendo Life, Aonuma said that they had to go “beyond the disc”, in order to provide better experiences for players. He’s also aware of the need to balance the cost of DLC with how worthwhile it is for players to play it.
  • Sick of all the super-hyped action games that were on show at E3? Want something a little more laid back? Well World of Diving may be the game for you. The company behind it, Vertigo Games has some gameplay footage they’d like to show you, and they’re also running a crowdfunding campaign to get the game’s development moving along. Watch the video below, and decide whether or not you think this is a game worth supporting:
