Star Wars Battlefront beta coming in October

September 2, 2015

EA has announced a Star Wars Battlefront open beta will be coming to the PS4, Xbox One and PC via Origin in early October this year.

The beta will feature Walker Assault on Hoth, a 40-player battle between Empire and Rebel troops. In this mode players will also have a chance to wield the Force by taking control of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. There will also be Survival Mission on Tatooine where two players team up to take waves of Imperial Forces.

EA also teased a new mode called Drop Zone will be in the beta, but at the time of writing no further information was provided.

During the beta, EA will make the Star Wars Battlefront Companion experience available on the game’s official website. The Companion experience will include the card game Base Command and allow players to earn in-game Credits that unlock Star Cards, weapons and other goodies. Players can also check their stats and progression, customise their load-outs and appearance, and connect with friends. Apps will be released on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store prior to the game’s full release.

EA will reveal more details about the beta in the future.
