Shadowloo Showdown 2013

October 14, 2013

It was a tense competition at Flemington, Melbourne yesterday as Shadowloo Showdown 2013 entered its second and final day, as players battled across competitive games like Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl, King of Fighters XIII, and Injustice, but what the crowds really came for was the enormous Top 8 showdowns in  Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition.

Despite solid efforts by Aussies such as SL|SolidStef, as the day went on the tournament became a largely international affair, as the Aussies were knocked out by top players from Europe, Japan and America. DM|Xian was on a hot streak, taking out top places in both KOFXIII and UMvC3, but failed to take out a hat trick after a nasty tumble on Super Street Fighter IV. That tournament, drawing the biggest crowds and loudest cheers next to UMvC3, ended with a massive battle between Japan’s MCZ|Tokido, playing Akuma, and France’s AvM|Gamerbee, playing Adon and Yun. Ultimately, it was Tokido who came away triumphant, taking a huge cash prize and special hand-painted trophy katana, which may present problems once he tries to get it through customs.

Congratulations to all the winners of the event, and if you want to check out the action for yourself, you can watch our 3D highlights video in this post! Like several of our past event videos, this can be watched in 3D using a 3D monitor/TV, red/blue glasses, or even just crossing your eyes (although you may want to check the swap left/right option on YouTube first).
