Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4 dated, new content revealed

July 20, 2016

Square Enix has announced Rise of the Tomb Raider will be coming to the PS4 on October 11 this year.

The PS4 version is being dubbed as Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, and will feature the original game plus all exissting DLC including Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch, Cold Darkness Awakened and various weapon and skin packs.

Also included will be a new premium DLC titled Blood Ties, which sees Lara’s uncle contest ownership of the Croft Manor. Lara will have to explore the manor to find proof that she is the rightful heir. The DLC will include a replayable Lara’s Nightmare mode where the Croft Manor is overrun by zombies. Blood Ties will also support PlayStation VR, allowing players to “play the world through Lara’s eyes”.

On the multiplayer front, Endurance Mode will receive an online co-op expansion. Players will now be able to team up to raid tombs, survive the wilds and tackle enemy threats.

A new costume pack will allow players to play Rise of the Tomb Raider using classic Lara models. The models look exactly like they did on the original PlayStation console, prompting for some comedic moments where you see a pixelated Lara interacting with modern characters.

The new content will also be coming to the Xbox One and PC versions of Rise of the Tomb Raider, albeit for a cost. Existing Season Pass holders will receive Blood Ties for free.
