EA Games has announced an open beta for Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 will be coming to the PS4 and Xbox One this month.

The beta will take place between 14-18 January and will feature limited access to the game’s Backyard Battleground hub world. The new King of the Hill- inspired mode Flag of Power will be playable. In this mode, teams try to prevent the enemy from lowering their flag.

There will also be two 24-player multiplayer modes; Herbal Assault which sees the plants go on the offensive on the Moon Base Z map and fan-favourite Gardens & Graveyards which is played on the Seeds of Time map. Additionally, game modes Team Vanquish, Vanquish Confirmed, Gnome Bomb and Subordination will rotate each day, and will be played on the Z-Tech Factory and Frosty Creek maps.

The beta will give fans the opportunity to try out the new playable characters Kernel Corn, Rose, Citron, Imp & Z-Mech, Super Brainz and Captain Deadbeard.
